Barrington Minty - Ecclectic Mix - Tuesdays
What can be said about Barrington Ulysses Minty, adventurer, whelk farmer and bon viveur extraordinaire, that hasn't been exaggerated so many times before? Nothing and, possibly, even more. One never asks a gentleman's age, but he's somewhere between 90 and twenty-seven.
As the courts will testify, Minty of Cheadle has, due to wedding cake addiction, been married seven times... and divorced at least six – current status unknown.
Last employed as leading tea taster in New South Wales, Minty was previously dragooned into the Canadian Mounties before being sponged and expunged from the rolls of the Legion's hallowed halls (though brother – Montgomery – still serves with honours).
His eldest grandson is the world famous politician, mountain tamer and lion climber, Pablo 'Mimby' Minty — and currently, in these, undoubtedly twiglet years, Barrington's boon companions are his valet, 'Cromer' Winstanley, and Lido, Lord Ferret Kingdom… all rights reserved
Jim Thomason - Local Mic - Tuesdays
Jim has been running music events in Kenilworth and beyond for a number of years and now joins us on Radio Abbey to celebrate local talent.
Sarah Jane Rose - Read To Me - Thursdays
Sarah is an audiobook narrator and voice actor who also happens to be one of the managers at the Kenilworth Centre.
Vicki Mansfield - Showtune - Friday
Vicki fell in love with musicals the first time that Captain Von Trapp blew that silly whistle and has spent a lifetime collecting them ever since. She grew up in Kenilworth and then spent ten wonderful years working in the West End (mainly on musicals) and seeing as many shows as possible. Her ambition is to host a show for the serious musicals lover. People who love all eras, who are always searching for the shows that they haven't heard yet. She is always happy to promote new professional musicals, just get in touch. Vicki continues to see as many musicals as finances allow.
Victoria Mier - Sunday - That Kenilworth Vibe
Victoria grew up in Kenilworth, went away to university in Bristol and came back 27 years later. She runs the Tree House second-hand bookshop in Kenilworth, which also hosts live music - mostly the folk music she plays on her show. She used to be a lecturer in art history and still does a bit of that on the side, but only when she runs out of single malt whisky and needs to replenish supplies. She was once described as ‘beautifully cantankerous’ which she takes as a compliment. She loves Bob Dylan and Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds more than she loves most other people (which actually isn’t saying much, come to think of it).
